This past weekend the girls and I traveled to north Alabama to visit my family. On a good day it’s a six and a half hour drive which makes it just close enough for a weekend trip, although I admittedly prefer it to be a three day weekend.
The closer I get to the home where I grew up, the narrower the roads become. The last mile or so we leave the pavement and travel on dirt and gravel. The ride is bumpy as we dodge and weave around potholes in the already uneven surface.
As we make the final turn the road becomes a single lane. There’s not much room to dodge and weave and we just stay the course until we reach our destination.
As a Christ follower, life can be much the same way. The roads can be bumpy, there are challenges along the way but the path is narrow and we just need to stay the course.
The challenges, the difficulties, the sorrows, the struggles will all fade when we reach our final destination. And the journey will have been worth it all.
