29 Days Of Frugal Living: Day 29 – Be A Blessing

Frugal living is a way of life. It is about choosing to make the most of the resources you have not only in an effort to not waste them but to use them to bless others.

If you currently aren’t very frugal know that becoming more frugal will take a change in the way you think about things.

We live in a disposable society. It’s easy to just toss things aside when they get a little worn or a newer model comes out. But we end up wasting a lot of resources when we do that.

There’s a saying that goes, “Use it up, wear it out, make do or do without.” This is a very different way of thinking from the way much of the world lives today. But when you use that phrase as a measuring stick for how you manage your resources, you’ll find yourself becoming more thoughtful and creative and less wasteful.

But paying down debt, building up savings and using what you have well isn’t the only reason to live frugally. Frugal living allows you to more freely bless others.

When your pantry is well stocked and your freezer is full, it’s no problem to fill a bag of groceries for a family in need or bring a meal over to a sick neighbor.

When you’re no longer drowning in debt or living paycheck to paycheck, you can use the extra money you have to bring hope to a child living in poverty, provide much needed love and care to pregnant girls in Kenya, give to your local soup kitchen, pay a bill for a family member who is struggling,  or support a missionary from your church. The possibilities to bless others are endless.

2 Corinthians 9:8-11
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
 9 As it is written,
“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;his righteousness endures forever.”
10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

This is my heart for frugal living and why I wrote this series. So that we might all be inspired to let our blessings flow through us to others and produce thanksgiving to God.  Thank you for reading along these last 29 days.
