Frugal Crafts: DIY Yarn Wreath

While browsing Etsy last year, I fell in love with yarn wreaths. They’re fun and creative and out of my budget because, to be perfectly honest, my decorating budget is all but non-existent. But I’m always up for a little crafting challenge and I was sure I could make one that was budget-friendly.

There are a lot of tutorials out there but I really like the yarn wreath for all seasons tutorial at momadvice. I found it really easy to follow although I didn’t make this a “for all seasons” wreath and just hot glued the flowers to the wreath instead.
All you need to make it:
  • straw wreath
  • yarn
  • felt
  • ribbon
  • any other decorative items you like
  • hot glue gun/glue sticks
It required a little patience, wrapping that wreath in yarn takes awhile, but it was definitely budget-friendly coming in just a few pennies over $12 to make.

Depending on where you buy your supplies and whether or not you use coupons(Michael’s, Jo-Ann’s, Hobby Lobby, etc.) you could possibly make this for as little as $10. Of course, you could add a little more to it and still come in under $15 for a fun wreath to welcome guests to your home.

Have you been inspired to make your own home decor to keep it budget friendly? If so what have you made?
