Okay, y’all, just a couple of weeks to go until Christmas. I hope you are making good progress in preparing by following the action steps I’m sharing each week.
How did last week go for you? Did you get the action steps done?
Here’s how I did.
I picked up a couple of more needed items. I did not get as much baking prep done as I had hoped but I do have some Chocolate Chip Cookie dough in the freezer so that’s something.
I had planned to go shopping last Friday but then my husband had car trouble on Thursday and I decided to wait and see how it impacted the budget. I did get a gift ordered online though. I also mailed out most of my cards. I need to check on a few addresses and finish them up.
We got most of the decor up this past week. I plan to finish it up today.
We continue to enjoy our family Advent devotional. And I am enjoying my personal one as well.
Car trouble forced us to cancel a trip to visit family this past weekend. However, we were able to attend a Christmas concert at church which was a beautiful time of worshiping Christ.
Now onto this week.
Check your calendar for any upcoming activities you have planned for the week.
Hopefully the holiday menu is planned and you’ve got many of the items you need on hand. Let’s focus on prepping as much as we can this week.
- Pick up some of the menu items needed as you grocery shop. Be sure to check for sales and coupons on those items.
- Work on holiday cooking prep.
Alright, let’s finish up the gifts this next week if at all possible. Remember, getting it done now will keep us out of the stores during the last week before Christmas when the stores are really crowded. Finish up any homemade gifts as well.
If you’re shopping online you’ll need to do it soon to ensure you receive it in time for Christmas. It will also keep you from paying higher shipping rates to get it quickly if you wait and order at the last minute. As always, check for sales on items you plan to purchase and go through Ebates(referral link) or a similar site to get cash back on your purchase.
If your cards aren’t mailed yet, finish them up and get them in the mail this week.
This is a good week to start wrapping your gifts. Wrapping a few gifts here and there will keep you from having to devote a big chunk of time to it right before Christmas, which could keep you from enjoying time with your family.
If you are mailing gifts, remember December 20th is the “mail by’ date for first-class mail service. So get those ready to go.
- Finish up shopping or making gifts.
- Check sales ads for savings opportunities.
- Mail cards if you haven’t already.
- Wrap gifts as time allows.
- If you already have gifts you’re planning to mail, go ahead and get those mailed this week.
If you haven’t finished decorating, try to get it done this week. Remember, your home doesn’t have to look like a magazine layout. Only put out the things you love and make you smile.
- Finish decorating with things you love.
- Enjoy it with your family.
I hope you are enjoying a more peaceful Christmas season and that you are able to focus on celebrating the birth of Christ rather than stressing about all the things you need to do.
I know that seems to be the case for me. I feel like I’ve been able to focus on The Reason we’re celebrating in a much more meaningful way this year.
- Set aside time each day to get quiet with God.
- Spend time each day focusing on an Advent devotional/activity with your family.
- Look for ways to serve others and share the love of Christ with them.
Check back next Tuesday and let me know what all you accomplished this week. I’ll have new action steps to help us finish up our Christmas preparations.
Before you go, be sure to let me know what you accomplished this past week. What do you find most challenging as you prepare?
