Toss It or Keep It

toss it or keep it

I’m pretty sure I’ve admitted this here before but in case you didn’t know, I struggle with paper clutter. I am a piler and have a hard time deciding what to keep and what to toss.

Knowing that, it’s no surprise that the article 11 Things You Always Hold On To, But Need To Throw Away grabbed my attention this morning. Sure enough, the list includes various forms of paper clutter like bills, documents, and magazines. I appreciate that it linked to an article about which documents you should keep and for how long. That will be helpful.

The list also included things like makeup, old electronics, and medicine. I’m pretty good about tossing old makeup but probably only go through my medicine about once a year.

One day I hope to be able to share with you how I’ve finally overcome my struggle with paper clutter but for now I’m still a work in progress.

How about you?

Do you struggle with decluttering? What do you hold on to that you need to toss?

  1. Well, actually I’m the opposite! Everyone in my family is careful to keep things out of my path that I think might be “trash” when it’s not! :)

Thank God, I’m not the only one! The article you shared says clutter affects our mood–I am living proof. “Stuff” makes me feel bad–bogged down. Thanks for the good word, Janet!

    • No, you are not alone, Julie and it really does impact your mood. I try to use a timer when I’m tackling it because knowing I’m only going to deal with it for a finite time keeps me from feeling overwhelmed by it.
